KCO BASSOONIST JOY FLEMMING TO PERFORM WORLD PREMIER

KEENE, NH COLONIAL THEATRE MOTHER’S DAY 4 PM TREAT TO INCLUDE FAURE PAVANNE AND TCHAIKOVSKY SYMPHONY NO. 2 “LITTLE RUSSIAN”

JOHN STEINMETZ TO BE IN ATTENDANCE


Concert III of the Keene Chamber Orchestra’s 2002-03 Season at the Colonial Theatre in downtown Keene New Hampshire, will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2003, at 4 PM.

The special Mother’s Day program will feature the world premier of John Steinmetz’s Bassoon Concerto, with Joy Flemming as soloist, preceded by Fauré’s Pavanne and followed by Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 “Little Russian”. Eric Stumacher, Music Director and Conductor of the Keene Chamber Orchestra, will be on the podium.

The Steinmetz premier will be a musical event of international note. The Steinmetz Bassoon Concerto was commissioned by the Keene Chamber Orchestra, with the internationally renowned Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony as commissioning partners. Mr. Steinmetz will be in attendance May 11.

School age attendees will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult. “This promotion continues to be a wonderful success, and we are delighted to encourage young people to be part of the audience be inspired hear this incredible music,” says Sandy Van de Kauter, cellist in the KCO and Chair of the Friends of the KCO.

The Keene Chamber Orchestra, completing its thirteenth season, has garnered praise as
"one of New Hampshire’s cultural delights" and “one of the best ticket values around.” The outpouring of praise for the Orchestra’s performances have included testimonies such as: “This was the finest orchestral experience I have ever had.”

The Keene Chamber Orchestra is comprised of professional and skilled student musicians of all ages from the Monadnock Region of southwest New Hampshire and beyond.

Says Eric Stumacher: “This concert will be a special musical event for the community. The music is incredibly beautiful, exhilarating and moving. Remember, KEENE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA CONCERTS ARE FOR EVERYONE! We encourage all in the community to be with us on May 11 for Mother’s Day.
