Meet Sarah Atwood

Sarah Atwood, 17, lives and homeschools in Spofford, NH. She studies with graduate teacher Katie Lansdale at the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music, and is completing the Performer's Certificate Program, a two year pre-conservatory program at Hartt. She has also played in many recitals and masterclasses at the Hartt School. Sarah placed first as a freshman in New Hampshire's All-State Festival, was winner of the Windham Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2007, and attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute String Quartet Workshop last summer. She has been playing with the KCO and attending Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music since she was 10. Sarah learned the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto at age 9, and is thrilled to have this opportunity to perform it – it is one of her favorite pieces!

Sarah enjoys singing in Keene High School's A Capella Choir and performing in the Moving Company's dance and musical theatre productions, loves listening to hip hop, teaching Suzuki violin, spending time with her crazy friends, and is hoping to attend Oberlin Conservatory.
