Keene Chamber Orchestra Annual Mother's Day Concert May 11, 4 PM

PROGRAM FEATURES NEW TANGO FOR ORCHESTRA FOR ORCHESTRA BY MARK FERGUSON, PROKOFIEV PIANO CONCERTO NO.1, AND TCHAIKOVSKY SYMPHONY NO. 5

Concert III of the Keene Chamber Orchestra’s 2007-8 Keene (NH) Colonial Theatre Season will be Sunday, May 11 2008, 4 PM.

The program features thirteen year old Keene Pianist Miles Walter performing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No.1.

The concert also includes the world premier of "Tango 101" by Mark Ferguson, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5

Says Eric Stumacher, KCO’s Music Director and Conductor: "This is beautiful music, engaging, spirited, moving, and fun. Mom and all the family will love it. Come here amazing music, performed live by some of the best musicians in our region!"

School age attendees, as always, will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Additionally, children in attendance are cordially invited by the Keene Chamber Orchestra to join the musicians in dressing up for this concert if you wish.

The Keene Chamber Orchestra, in its seventeenth season, continues to garner praise as "one of New Hampshire's cultural delights" and “one of the best ticket values around." The outpouring of praise for the Orchestra's performances have included audience testimonies such as:

The Keene Chamber Orchestra is comprised of professional and skilled student musicians of all ages from the Monadnock Region of southwest New Hampshire and beyond.

*****About the Artist*****
Miles Walter, pianist, thirteen years old, is a native of Keene and a piano student of Vladimir Odinokikh. He will be attending Keene Middle School starting in the fall of 08. In addition to his concerto appearance on May 11 with KCO, Miles has been invited to perform as concerto soloist with the Windham Orchestra in Vermont during the 08-09 season. Miles was a participant in the Apple Hill Summer Festival in 2007, and will also participate in the Apple Hill 2008 Festival. He is in a piano trio with KCO members Ian and Jacob MacKay, and they will be performing Shostakovich's Piano Trio in E Minor on May 18.
