KEENE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA ON MOTHER'S DAY: BEETHOVEN AND LARRY SIEGEL WORLD P

Concert III, the final concert of the Keene Chamber Orchestra’s 2001-02 Season at the Colonial Theater in downtown Keene New Hampshire, will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2002, at 4 PM.

The program will feature Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, with Eric Stumacher as piano soloist, and the world premier of a major new work for orchestra and narrator, “Monadnock Tales”, by composer Larry Siegel of Westmoreland, NH, with original text by Edie Clark of Harrisville, NH.

The concert, under the baton of KCO Music Director and Conductor Eric Stumacher, will open with Beethoven’s “Egmont” Overture.

“Monadnock Tales” will be narrated by Lew Feldstein, President of New Hampshire Charitable Trust. The work was made possible by a Monadnock Milennium Grant.

School age attendees will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult. “This promotion continues to be a wonderful success, and we are delighted to encourage young people to be part of the audience be inspired hear this incredible music,” says Sandy Van de Kauter, cellist in the KCO and Chair of the Friends of the KCO.

The Keene Chamber Orchestra, in its twelfth season, continues to garner praise as "one of New Hampshire’s cultural delights" and “one of the best ticket values around.” The outpouring of praise for the Orchestra’s Feb 3 performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 included a testimony that “this was the finest orchestral experience I have ever had.”

The Keene Chamber Orchestra is comprised of professional and skilled student musicians of all ages from the Monadnock Region of southwest New Hampshire and beyond.

Says Eric Stumacher: “This concert will be a special event for the community. The Beethoven works are epic and moving, and the Siegel is a beautiful work which is bound to become a woldwide symbol and emblem for our community. I cannot think of a better way to spend Mother’s Day than to be at the Colonial on May 12.”
